After you click Ship, your order either gets sent to SalesLitre (if you have SalesLitre account) or it gets arranged into an open fulfillment batch (open = awaiting shipment). Fulfillment batches are arranged by warehouse.
In this article, you'll learn how to update a customer's default warehouse (i.e., moving orders between open batches) by either updating your customer's details or by moving an order between fulfillment batches.
How do I change a customer's default fulfillment method? 🚚
If this is the first time you've processed an order with this customer, you'll be prompted to select a warehouse before you finish accepting the order.
If this is not your first time processing an order with this customer, the default warehouse will be set to whichever warehouse you used previously with this customer.
You can, however, update the default warehouse for a customer in 3 ways:
1.) Via the Order Details page:
On the right-hand side of your screen, use the Warehouse drop-down menu to toggle between the different options.
Note: if have a SalesLitre account, the inventory counts beside each SKU will update as you toggle between warehouses.
2.) Via the Customers page:
- Click on the organization whose default warehouse you'd like to update.
- Once on the Customer Details page, click the Edit button.
- The Update Customer screen will appear; select a new warehouse from the Warehouse drop-down menu.
- Click Update Customer.
Note: you can only use this method if the order is still in the draft state.
You can now accept the order, and then ship and charge it when you're ready. The order will then either be sent to SalesLitre or to fulfillment batch under your Fulfillment tab.
3.) Via the Fulfillment page:
Note: this option is only relevant if you use the Fulfillment page to organize your orders and deliveries.
Once an order has been accepted and shipped, you'll need to move the order between open batches in order to update the warehouse/fulfillment method.
- Click the box beside the order you wish to move.
- Click on the Move to... menu at the bottom of your screen.
- Select a new warehouse from the list.
This will either move the order to an existing open batch or, if there isn't an existing open batch for that warehouse, a new open batch will be generated.
Tip: to filter your batches by status or warehouse, select a filter from the panel on the right-hand side of your screen. To remove the filter and view the list of all your batches, click All Batches at the top of the filter panel.
🎉And that's it! You've successfully changed an order's fulfillment method. You can now update the fulfillment status once the batch is ready for shipment 😃
